Shadow Hunters (Fractal Kiss Remix)
The first Pan Electric release revisited. I love working with vocal arrangements. It’s tricky territory for many EDM or ambient artists but I’m shameless and fearless working with the human voice. Eclipses have been held as portentous in human history. I can’t say my experience was in any way spiritual or cosmic. It went dark for four minutes and then everyone started cheering. What did influence me, however, was being in Choroni. The pulse of the cloud-forest and a hilarious episode in which my English host Will took me to negotiate the purchase of a pig from a local farmer in the hills . He told me that the farmer would try to get him drunk to get the best price and so I was ‘volunteered’ to do the drinking whilst Will sniffed his glass and negotiated. The drink was the local moonshine but the bottle was filled with herbs and mushrooms. I awoke 3 days later with no memory of the pig. It’s a special track because the template for Pan Electric was set. I’m grateful to George Barker for catalysing the whole experience.
